Annual reports are often glitzy pieces of PR. This is not the case with the report from Europa Nostra. Here is lots of interesting stuff about initiatives, campaigns, conferences and awards or just plain information about the work done to raise our awareness. Of course the report also contains the detailed report from the treasurer and auditor, but the main stuff is the comprehensive information members get about what goes on in the heritage business.
As such the annual report serves to make us remember outstanding issues like the Rosia Montana or the disgrace of the destruction of the “Fortress of Gibraltar” but also points to the many diverse interests of the different members of the organisation.
Europa Nostra is a lively community dedicated not only to preserve for the sake of preservation, but also to enhance the awareness amongst politicians and the public about the losses we all suffer when a small piece of our common heritage is obliterated and turned into dust.
