Luxembourg City and Greater Region

Rather than only focusing on the city itself, Luxembourg city will be a cross-border event including the “Grande Region” of Wallonia in Belgium, Lorraine in France as well as German Rhineland and Saarland.  On the official website, the organizers promise: “This concept gives the Capital of Culture 2007 a special touch: promoting mobility and the exhchange of ideas, crossing borders in all areas, physical, psychological, artistic and emotional.”

Of course many of the special events will take place in Luxembourg city, but the celebrations will also include this greater region.

Some of the main projects to be presented in 2007 are:

• “Tommorow Now”, a multimedia exhibition where robots and extraterrestials will be brought to live May 24-Sept. 24
• “A Global Multitude” exhibition Sept. 28-Dec. 9
• “Wagner Dream”, electronic opera, premiere April 28
• ”Fete de la Musique”, summer festival, June 16-24
• "Cirque des Sciences", audience-participation performance, July
• “Attention, Gypsies!”, the Roma people display their traditions in mobile containers, March 24-Sept. 23
